Similar to my leadership style my teaching philosophy is guided by a facilitative style that rests on three commitments: learning as a developmental process, learning through dialogue, and learning by doing. Largely, I assume students enter with different backgrounds and levels of readiness. I scaffold learning so that students can stretch their skills with guidance and feedback, gradually taking more ownership of analysis and problem-solving. Second, I treat discussion as the engine of learning. I build a classroom climate where students practice professional dialogue, learn to question assumptions, and test ideas respectfully. Third, I design experiences that mirror how professionals work. Students learn best when they engage authentic problems, work with realistic constraints, and produce products that can be used outside the classroom.
