In this article we were curious how well the Altman Z-Score could be used to determine the financial sustainability of acute care hospitals. We also wanted to identify were there specific determinants in a given community that could be predictors of financial distress. Our findings ran counter to what we typically see in the literature. Financial distress was more prevelant in urban areas. Operational efficiency, basic capital structure such as cash flow and ROI as well as local market scale were key in driving financial vulnerability.
Serving people who are in the criminal justice system and also suffer from opioid use disorder is an honor. Finding the best way to provide support both within the system and to ensure proper care is provided is essential. Collaborating with the justice system can support those who are susceptible to re-entry, by giving them a chance for survival, helping them gain sobriety, and connection with a peer improves longevity and retention for buprenorphine.

Here's a more recent poster we did at the TMC AI Summit 2026. I'm so excited we were accepted!
In this project, we compare traditional unpaired statistical approaches with AI-assisted thematic interpretation (using ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot) to evaluate Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution (OEND) training programs. Key takeaways: both methods converged on meaningful post-training improvements (knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy), while AI added extra “why this matters” clarity by refining themes, proposing scoring logic, and highlighting item-level drivers of change.
